New Orleans is known for many things and there is no denying that the one thing any person can rave about is the food. The city, bustling with constant energy is home to a melting pot of diverse and unique cultures, and the same can be said about the delicious food. The New Orleans Oyster Festival comes as a huge celebration for most locals, as the seafood industry took a 1-2-3 punch with first Hurricane Katrina, and 5 years later the Gulf Oil Spill. The thought of not having oysters is disheartening, as that is one of the many great things New Orleans is known for.
Well we are here to tell you that is of the past! The New Orleans Oyster Festival was without a doubt a huge success because the oysters are back and better than ever! This year’s event was located in the French Quarter. To be exact: The Berger Parking Lot at Decatur and the river between Jax Brewery and the Hard Rock Cafe. Along with the great food, this was a good time to listen to some awesome music and mingle with family and friends. Admission was free and the proceeds from the food sales went to Local Coastal Communities effected by the Gulf Oil Spill. Let’s hope they do it next year!
